Your story-telling is prety good, but some stuff is a little mixed up.
The Mixtecs are from the region of Oaxaca (South-Eastern Mexico) and they don't speak NAHUATL, they speak Mixtec, and they never had anything to do with Quetzalcoatl. Quetzalcoatl (ket-zal-co-a-tl) was a god of the Aztecs (central Mexico, the area of Mexico City), the people who actually spoke Nahuatl. Another related legend is that of Kukulkan (kuk-ul-kan), from the Mayans in the area of Yucatan (Far East of Mexico).
Tlaloc is pronounced almost as it is written: tlal-oc, Xolotl is pronounced shol-o-tl and Tehcutl goes more or les tec-u-tl, while Chuen is just as it is written: chu-en, with all the vowels short and open.
Sorry I'm so critic. I'm Mexican, you see, and really like your story, so I'd love to see al the facts as they should be.
Author's Response: Thanks for the feedback. I actually knew all this (with the exception of the language bits, although a revewer actually did the pronounciation guide so I just went with what he said). I liked the term Mixtec, like a combination of all three societies. I leaned heavily on the Aztec, but the story was supposed to be a combination of the magical people of the time (Myan, Aztec, and Incan) who secluded themselves on this magical island and developed their own individual culture - like a melting pot of magical, muggle, etc. Thus, it can't be authentic to the "muggle" world because it's a fictional society rooted in the MesoAmerican culture and history. Does that make sense? Thanks again for the review!

Great chapter. I wasn't too happy with the idea of Harry marrying Masaya and neither was Harry. If Harry is the Plumed Serpent the defender of humanity, if he had to risk his life by going up against Voldermort than he should be able to choose who he wants to marry. I just hope it's Ginny. I'm a little concerned that Voldemort will use Harry and Ginny's dream walking to his advantage. I'm also worried that it may not be Ginny, Wow there is so much that we don't know. What an awesome story.

First, thank you for the pronounciation guide. That is very much appreciated. Secondly, it was a wonderful chapter. I worry if Masaya's family is going to take it as an insult if Harry does not marry her. You have a great gift, combining legends, myths, andcient societies, and Harry Potter.
Btw, the poem at the beginning was wonderful. I keep going back to look, just to make sure I am keeping up.

Wow some interesting developments have occured. Just to let you know, I got a name on here just to review your story to let you know that I love what you have done with this idea. The whole whole aztec influence is very interesting. The myths and such are wonderfully incorperated.

Hooray, an update from you! Poor Harry, loved the dream sequence with Ginny! I hate this snake within Harry and hope Stephen Hunter can find a way to control it for Harry. I'm glad it dawned on him that he can't play with Harry like that. That isn't the kind of attitude that will work with Harry at all. He needs someone to really depend upon.

I am so glad that you updated! I'm sorry that it took me so long to read but since it's Thanksgiving day - I haven't had time to read it non-stop. ANywho, this was a very informative chapter - and that makes it all the more interesting.
