Author's Notes:
This is my very first FanFiction. It just kind of came to me one night and stuck so I thought "Hey, other people might enjoy it. Why not?" I didn't use a beta b/c I didn't believe my grammar was that bad and it's a one-shot so there are no continuities I have to worry about. I suppose you came here to read so I'll stop talking now. Enjoy!

Harry walked with a spring in his step as he quickly made his way to Ginny’s apartment. Why she chose to live in a Muggle apartment he would never understand, but tonight he was not going to worry about that. He had just returned to England from an assignment on a castle in Russia. His job as a curse breaker was exciting, but in his opinion (and Ginny’s) he traveled far too much.

He strode up to apartment 4D and knocked. When he didn’t receive an answer he pressed his ear to the door and heard the faint sounds of water running. Ginny was still in the shower and a quick watch check showed Harry they had twenty minutes to leave. It was Sunday and therefore dinner at the Burrow. Chuckling at her Weasley-like tardiness he checked the hall before pulling out his wand and quickly unlocking the door to step inside.

Settling himself onto the couch Harry soon heard the water shut off and Ginny dry herself with her wand. The bathroom door clicked and Harry spun around to see his beautiful girlfriend and what he saw made his head spin. She wore a pale golden dress which cut off just above the knee as well as highlighted her hair. What surprised Harry even more was that he had seen this image before.

Frowning, she asked, “What? You don’t like my new dress? Hermione helped me pick it out…” She moved to stand in front of the mirror and Harry’s shock increased as he became certain of where he had seen this image of Ginny before. He blushed furiously at the memory.

“No…er, the dress is wonderful Ginny.” Harry stammered. He began to sweat as he became acutely aware of the box he had kept in his pocket for almost three months now.

She can’t possibly know. I was in Egypt when that happened! She couldn’t…could she? Harry swallowed reflexively, but his eyes never left Ginny. She moved to sit next to him on the couch and placed her hand on his cheek.

“You can tell me what’s wrong, Harry.” She gazed into his eyes and he seemed to grow increasingly uncomfortable as his eyes flickered between her and her dress. At last he drew a ragged breath and replied.

“It’s nothing love. Let’s just get ourselves to the Burrow before Mum kills us.” He chuckled slightly and tried to stand, but Ginny was having none of it. He had just returned from a nearly month long tour of Russia and she was not about to let his first night home be ruined. He was going to tell her what was wrong if she had to curse it out of him.

“No, Harry. Now tell me what’s wrong!” She barely kept herself from yelling. Even a month without him had been torture to her, despite Ron and Hermione’s efforts to keep her occupied.

“Really, Gin, it’s nothing. Let’s just go.” He tried to stand up again, but Ginny roughly shoved him back to the couch, planted both hands on his chest, and straddled him, preventing any further attempts to move. Ginny raised her eyebrows expectantly and Harry once again looked nervous. Finally he sighed in defeat and hung his head. Ginny reveled in her moment of triumph before Harry picked his head back up and gazed into her eyes.

She became worried as she saw the emotions flash across his face. Anguish, anticipation, nervousness, happiness, excitement, fear; they crossed his features so quickly she barely had time to register them before they changed.

“Gin, get up”

“Harry, you need…” he quickly cut her off.

“I will Gin, you just need to get up.” She settled herself back onto her feet and Harry stood slowly. His eyes never left hers as he grabbed her hand and led her over to the mirror. Harry stopped them in front of the mirror and stared silently for a moment. He caught Ginny’s eyes in the mirror and began to speak.

“Do you remember when I went on assignment to Egypt for Gringotts?” Ginny nodded as he continued. “You remember what I told you I saw there?”

She nodded and supplied, “The Mirror of Erised.” He nodded again before continuing.

“Now what did I tell you I saw in the Mirror?” Her confusion deepened at the question.

“Your family, but Harry, what…” Harry cut her off again.

“Just a moment love. You see, the image in the Mirror can change.”

“Well that makes sense, if your heart’s deepest desires change so will the image in the Mirror. But you said it was you parents again, just like…” Ginny trailed off, an inkling of understand beginning.

“I’m sorry Ginny… I didn’t see my parents, not that time. It…it was different this time. The image was different.” Harry finally dropped her gaze and studied his shoes momentarily.
“So what are you saying Harry, this is what you saw?” She gestures to the mirror and he slowly lifted his head again.

“Well, yes and no.”

“What do you mean ‘yes and no’? How can it be both?” Ginny’s frustration with her boyfriend was growing. Why couldn’t he just give her a straight answer?!
“Yes I saw this, us, in the mirror, but it was different.” A small smile ghosted over Harry’s face before it was once again replaced with a nervous look.

“Well then what was the difference, love?” Harry turned to face her fully and for a moment, she could see all his love for her shining in his eyes for everyone to see.

“This.” With that he knelt down in front of her and pulled a small velvet box from his jacket pocket. “Ginny Weasley, I’ve known you since you were a blushing ten year old, red headed little spit fire and I’ve watched you grow into a beautiful, blushing, twenty year old spit fire. Ginny, I love you more than anything in the world.” He slowly opened a box to reveal a golden band with red stones embedded in it with a small engraving of a doe and buck dancing about the middle. “These were my parents’ rings. Ginerva Weasley, would you do me the extraordinary honor of becoming my wife?”

She stood, shocked and silent for what seemed like an eternity to Harry. Unshed tears glistened in her eyes and a single tear fell as Harry heard the smallest reply escape her lips.

“Yes.” She barely breathed the word, but Harry heard it. A huge smile broke across his handsome features as she offered him her hand. She couldn’t help but repeat her answer. “Yes!” Harry slid the ring onto his finger and Ginny snatched the matching male ring, sliding it onto the correct finger.

Harry stood and Ginny jumped into his arms with a squeal of joy. “I…love…you.” Ginny muttered over and over again as she peppered his face with kisses. He finally set her back on her feet and she gave him one last lingering kiss before turning to look at their reflections in the mirror. In that moment Harry realized something that made his grin grow wider.

Were he to look in the Mirror now, he would see only himself and Ginny as they were.
